Technically there was a mass ahooting in 2014. I say technically because the definition states 4 or more people killed in a single event constitutes a mass shooting, however the event was entirely domestic, so it’s a strange grey area…
Apparently my phone won’t let me post a link, but it was the Hunt Family murder/suicide

  2. Hi my friend! I wish to say that this article is awesome, great written and come with almost all

  5. Stan Morley says:

BUT HE DOES NOT MENTION MURDERS BY KNIFE/BLUNT TRAUMA BEFORE OR AFTER GUN CONTROL. BEFORE THERE WAS GUN SUICIDE WHICH CAN NEVER BE STOPPED FOR THOSE WHO GIVE UP ON LIFE. Mass murder of 9 children with a knife, the 5 family members who were hammered to death by a family member now on bail. Gun Control has never stopped murders and crime has gone up 44%,this is due to the criminals know every business and near every house can be robbed and all that is needed is threats and a bashing to walk out with the cash,THAT EASY. I do hope you sent a card to the young girls family that was stabbed in the neck just walking in the park.Yep knife murder by a person known to Police.

  6. I have heard that the statement “Speak your mind” in the comment entry field should really read ‘Speak your mind and unless it accords with our agenda I,ll delete it and ban you’ Yout don’t have much of a reputation for handling reasonable debate or other people’s point of view. So I,ll make a very short comment. Are these Australian mass shootings that don’t exist being counted under the same rules as the American ones? Eg 3 deaths by gunfire? Cos if so then surely there have been several? Hell there were 2 at the Lindt Cafe and thats the narrowest of heh…. misses. And if you don’t use the same rules then obviously the chart is complete bull4itt.

So I,ll make a very short comment. And probably save myself some time. Are these Australian mass shootings that don’t exist being counted under the same rules as the American ones? • Actually most reporting agencies, until recently including the US FBI, use the definition of four or more killed, not including the assailant, with no cooling off time.

Some reporting agencies also do not include events where another crime was the instigating event – for example domestic assault or an armed robbery.

The Reddit based tracker for the US requires 4 wounded rather than killed…

My point being twofold: there is no standard definition, but also this is clearly a satirical article in response to the link it provided to a serious one about US Shootings. As such, trying to seriously debate the statistics if a comedy piece is rather pointless.

  8. There was a second handgun buyback in Australia in 2003 after the Monash University Shooting in 2002 which sadly took two lives and injured 5.

  9. Under the current definition of 4 equal to mass murder it would appear that the only reason there was next to no mass murders with a firearm was because good people with firearms came and stopped the bad guy with a firearm from killing any more people. Mass murder mind you is the stupidest most ridiculous way to gauge whether or not certain aspects of gun control work or not as the flow of firearms from the illegal markets did not decrease and obtaining semi autos and full autos is still very much possible.

  10. Someone needs to share this to something like twichty.com (I’m still recovering from the last time I posted there, where they all assume you’re a loony liberal who doesn’t know anything about their own constitution…ignoring any hints that you’re actually from that mysterious part of the world outside US borders)
